[Vision2020] Attorney general to extend recognition of same-sex marriage rights to all states

Roger - some states and the feds are juxtaposed on marriage equality.  Idaho has a ridiculously restrictive ban on same sex marriage that I think is extraordinarily ripe for picking off in a constitutional challenge.  It just takes the right set of circumstances to file suit and run it up the flagpole to the Supremes.  With them being hammered with so many cases already, it's just a matter of time before they strike down the bans nationwide.  It's a shame that we repeated the same mistake of the past.  Inter racial marriage was banned in some states up until a 1967 SCOTUS ruling.

 He does not have that authority. His job is to enforce laws passed by congress.

Attorney general to extend recognition of same-sex marriage rights to all states


 (CNN) -- Attorney General Eric Holder says he is set to extend the federal government's recognition of same-sex marriages even in the 34 states that don't consider it legal. 


CNN has obtained excerpts of a speech Holder will deliver at the Human Rights Campaign's New York City gala event Saturday night.


Holder plans to announce that the Justice Department will issue a memo Monday that recognizes same-sex marriages "to the greatest extent possible under the law."
