[Vision2020] Deakin decoys and traffic tangles

Now that the construction equipment has been removed from the section of
Deakin Street between the VandalStore and the administrative building
formerly used as the Student Union Building, one may observe that a
divider has been constructed in the middle of Deakin Street. Not only
will the divider leave less street width within which vehicles may
operate down the street, they likely will do so at speeds reduced from
those of roadways nearby. Considering the amount of pedestrian traffic
in this location, this is not necessarily an undesirable development.

One does notice, however, the construction of a couple of rectangular
brick towers within the street divider between the buildings. I don't
know if there is a technical name for such constructions, or if they
should be named to better identify them. Mutt and Jeff, Mork and Mindy,
Amos 'n Andy -- who knows?

The question is whether the snow plow drivers whose services will likely
be required within a few months will need special procedures and
training to accomplish their jobs given the presence of these Deakin
decoys for diversion, and perhaps other d-words, too.
