[Vision2020] Proposal: Change Listserv Name

I haven’t posted as much lately as I often do, and sometimes I go over the “limit” of three posts per day, but I happen to like the Viz just as it is now and the “excessive posts of more than 3” don’t bother me. If I get tired of a thread I simply delete it. I don’t want Tom Hansen or anyone to quit doing what over the years is normal for them. I see many of Tom’s posts as Community Service and enjoyable, so Tom, I, for one, hope you reconsider and continue to post as you have always done. It isn’t as though you take advantage of anyone who is inarticulate and unwilling to respond in kind. Saundra’s posts, regardless of number, are well thought out and often give me pause. Sunil, it would be a huge loss if you decided this site is not worth your while. You bring to it a perspective that is always well worth an airing. Darrell, I see you as one who likes to have things nice and tidy and it’s good you are taking a poll, but I’m not sure you’ll ever reach the point where this results in a well, self-regulated medium. In particular, when we get into something such as a critical community issue, a discussion regarding a Supreme Court case, a crime that someone feels wasn’t handled appropriately, I think it’s good that many folks with varied opinions jump into the discussion. I can, and do, hit the delete key when, to my thinking, a discussion has deteriorated into a tirade.

Truth be known, most of the stuff I’m tired of are all the political advertisements I get every hour, but that’s my own fault and I can still hit the delete key.

  Nay.

I favor a return to the agreement, followed by most for many years, that we all limit ourselves to three posts a day. I usually follow that, though I'm sure I exceeded it yesterday.

The last time someone brought up the idea, Tom asked something like 'What are you going to do if someone goes over three posts? Use the delete button,' or words to that effect.

I'll also say I think Tom could post most of this stuff elsewhere. I routinely delete posts like 'Caturday' and the Farmer's Market pictures; I'm going there, I'm not interested in seeing pictures. But he also posts things I find interesting, so I end up looking at other posts and wishing I'd deleted them too...

That's two votes to the affirmative. (One former list member contacted me privately to vote). I'll run a tally and report back tomorrow.

I opened up my email this morning at 9am to 8 emails from Tom Hansen.

And the day is just getting started.

This made me curious. How much does Tom post? So I looked at yesterday: 7 emails. Thursday: 8 emails. I stopped there.

In light of this, I propose a name change. Instead of "Moscow Vision 2020" I propose "Hansen's Moscow 24/7."

      All in favor?
