PRESS RELEASE
Moscow, Idaho installs sharrows downtown in support of Walk Your Wheels campaign

April 30, 2014 (Moscow, Idaho) - City of Moscow Streets Department crews installed the first sharrows in the community. Sharrows are universal shared-lane markings accepted by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. These marking will be placed throughout downtown Moscow, Idaho encouraging bikers who can appropriately ride in the street to share the roadway, while letting motorists know the lanes are expected to be shared by multiple modes of transportation. The markings are being installed as part of the City Council approved plan as recommended by the City of Moscow Transportation Commission and City staff. The Walk Your Wheels campaign is designed to encourage bicyclists to either ride in the streets or walk their bikes on the sidewalks. The goal is to promote a more pedestrian friendly downtown.

As additional signage and marking are installed more information on the Walk Your Wheels campaign will be shared with the community.

For questions regarding the newly installed markings, please call Tyler Palmer, Division Manager at 208.883.7096.
