The front section of the Lewiston Trib is morphing into the National
Enquirer--

Evidence from this morning's paper (just headlines, from the inner pages):

"Albania finds tons of majijuana inside sofas"

Santiago, Chile -- "Quake threw ancient mummies from graves"

"Norwegian police try to identify amnesiac man"

"British scientists create body parts in lab"

And the next four, grouped together:
Houston -- "Jury convicts woman in stiletto-shoe killing"

Phoenix -- "Woman found guilty in hammer-beating death"

Tucson -- "Woman found guilty of killing ex-husband"

Miami -- "9-year-old steals car to avoid school"

We used to teach that local newspapers provided people with information
they needed to cope with life, and to some extent I guess they still do.
Probably these headlines just demonstrate that news taken off the
Associated Press wire is relatively cheap, news (local news!) written by
your own reporters is more expensive.

The poor people who depend on the Spokane Spokesman Review missed out on
all the marijuana in sofas and body parts and guilty women.
