" I'd say that whoever the mayor is."--Sunil Ramalingam

I wholeheartedly disagree. It is improper to use the word "is" at the end of sentence. This forum has really degenerated. Next thing you know, people will be ending sentences with a preposition, and some disgruntled laid off Idaho English teacher is going to go on a rampage breaking people's fingers.

 Scott,

I'll speak only for myself. If Wayne first contacted the street/road department, or whichever department is directly responsible, and they failed to respond or act, and he then emailed Nancy, then I sympathize with him. Based on his email, I don't think he contacted the correct department, but instead contacted Nancy instead. If that is correct, then I don't sympathize with him. I think you should first take action that is most likely to lead to the result you are seeking.

That's the only thing influencing my views, not the exaggerated heap of stuff below.

I do think it's ludicrous to blame the mayor for this if you've failed to contact the correct department, as you and Wayne did. I'd say that whoever the mayor is.

Sunil

<Street barricades? Someone is pissed off about street barricades?>

Well of course very few on the viz would have any sympathy for street barricades being dumped / stored on Wayne's private property.  After all, he's a hated white over privileged semi-conservative male and thus not part of the viz borg group think majority.  Now had he been an American Indian complaining about this, most on the viz would have expressed blowharded outrage similar to how they express outrage to the temporary use of transporting Megaloads over Highway 12 running through tribal land.

<Someone has WAY too much time of their hands>

Why so?  Do you think it took Wayne an overly large amount of time to lodge a complaint and post an email to the viz?  If so, I think you'd might also agree that someone else who posts magnitudes more CRAP to the viz has WAY WAY WAY too much time on their hands.  :)

-Scott

Once Upon A Time...

During the Great Land Rush of the late 60's & 70's  Moscow was known throughout the Pacific Northwest, as "The City With A Smile"

What happened?

Street barricades? Someone is pissed off about street barricades? Someone has WAY too much time of their hands.. I hear volunteers are needed at the food bank..

Happy Fall and Love to All,
Janesta

Scott's earlier post below.  Scott, I think you have, by issuing an an apology for something you did not do, you  have thereby earned a complaint or insult credit.  A pre-apology as it were.  If someone has the audacity (as has been the case for years preceding the Homecoming parade) to temporarily place street barricades on your lawn readying for the once a year event, you have an unused credit available to fire away at any and all city officials.  I, myself, have found barricades on or near my lawn while preparations are made to block my street during the once a year Ice Cream Social at the 1912 Center, and I've decided to be mad as hell and not take it anymore.  Well, unless I decide it's perfectly alright.  Which will probably be the case.

><I just finished talking with a rep of the Streets Department. They
responded to Mr. Dredge's complaint and corrected the situation within
an hour of its filing.> Ummm...I didn't have complaint. Do you mean Wayne's complaint? <I think Mr. Dredge owes Mayor Chaney and the Streets Department an apology.> OK - well since you're since you're convinced in your own mind that your opinion is always the correct even when you're unable to justify it based on either fact or logic, I guess you've painted me into a corner once again. It's getting damn frustrating that you continue playing me like an air guitar and IMO you ought to be flagged for a foul on the viz for 'excessive celebration'. I'll do what Tom never does. Here it goes without further ado: My apologies to Mayor Chaney and the Streets Department. Sincerely, --Scott Dredge
