PRESS RELEASE
Let's create a healthier Moscow!

September 25, 2013 - The numbers surrounding childhood obesity are staggering-one in three Idaho children is overweight or obese putting our kids at risk for serious health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

We have a vision for our city-one where families and schools are inspired to create the best environments for their children. We envision a city where our kids have ample opportunity to stay active, play and find proper nutrition.

The High Five Children's Health Collaborative named the city of Moscow a finalist in the Collaborative's community grant competition. Now, we need your vote to help us win.

The High Five Collaborative is a new resource for families, schools and businesses that outlines ways to fight childhood obesity. As part of this grant, three winners will receive between $50,000 to $300,000 to create healthy environments for children and make sustainable changes in our community.

Please join us in supporting the city of Moscow in this competition and vote for us in this grant competition. To vote, visit the High Five Collaborative Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/HighFiveIdaho> page. Community members who sign up for "The Daily Do<http://www.highfiveidaho.org/join-us/>" - a daily reminder of events, activities and recipes to keep families healthy - will give us an extra vote.

Voting is open through the end of September and winners will be announced the first week of October. Learn more at HighFiveIdaho.org<http://www.HighFiveIdaho.org>.

Let's make a difference in our city and provide a brighter future for our children.

If you don't use Facebook, please email Alisa Stone at astone at ci.moscow.id.us<mailto:astone at ci.moscow.id.us> to request an alternate method of voting to support Moscow in fighting childhood obesity.
