[Vision2020] Rules for Teachers (1901)

These rules are still more evolved then the Idaho Legislature today. They believed in giving teachers a pay increase after five years of public service.

Interesting.  I've seen rules such as these a number of times.  Early teachers were often very young and did not generally make teaching a lifetime career, and if they did, they really were forbidden to marry in the small rural towns.  I think they generally accepted that because the idea was they would teach until they found a husband, then they would quit, make a home and raise little students.  When my mom married my dad in 1930 she either had to quit or teach without salary.  She told them to "take this job and shove it," or words to that effect.
