PRESS RELEASE
Continued Opportunity to Learn about Proposed Mountain View Road Improvements

October 2, 2013 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow is continuing to invite public comment concerning the proposed Mountain View Road improvements. Project boards describing the proposed improvements are on display on the first floor at City Hall, 206 E Third Street, Moscow, Idaho. Comments boxes are also available for the public to leave their feedback regarding the project.

"Much of Moscow's growth over the last 15 years has been on the eastern side of the city," said Kevin Lilly, City Engineer. "Mountain View is the only north-south arterial roadway in this part of town, and therefore carries the majority of the traffic."

The Mountain View Road Improvement project is intended to improve traffic flow and safety between the Paradise Creek Bridge, adjacent to the Latah County Fairgrounds (approximately 300 feet north of White Avenue), and the intersection of Mountain View Road and 6th Street.
Potential project features include:

* Widening the existing 24 foot paved, two-lane rural road to a 36 foot wide, two lane, urban road section

*        Bicycle lanes

*        Storm drainage improvements

*        Illumination upgrade

* Curbs, gutters, sidewalks, tree lawns, and ADA compliant curb ramps

* Intersection improvements at Mountain View and 6th Street

The City of Moscow has completed similar improvements of the roadway north and south of the proposed project limits. The proposed project will upgrade the largest remaining section of the road to match those previous improvements, and provide a safer pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic corridor.

J-U-B ENGINEERS of Coeur d'Alene has been hired as the design engineer. The Langdon Group, a subsidiary of J-U-B, is managing public involvement. Public comments can be directed to mvr at langdongroupinc.com<mailto:mvr at langdongroupinc.com> or by phone at 208.739.3048. The formal comment period will continue until October 9, 2013.

Individuals attending the meeting who require special assistance to accommodate physical, hearing, or other impairments, are asked to contact the City Clerk at 208.883.7015 or TDD 208.883.7019, as soon as possible so that arrangements may be made.
