Your supposed logical argument is a hypothetical 'had the assault rifle and the large-capacity magazines not been in the 
possession of the (twenty year-old) New Jersey mall shooter, maybe he 
would have lived well into his golden years.'???

The guy was struggling with depression and drug use and the solution you see to this problem is to ban assault rifles from everyone?  Ummm...no.  Your barking up the wrong the tree.

FYI, Mr. Dredge . . .
EVERY casualty is a tragedy . . . even the death of the shooter.  Had the assault rifle and the large-capacity magazines not been in the possession of the (twenty year-old) New Jersey mall shooter, maybe he would have lived well into his golden years. 
But, that's something we'll never know . . . not that you give a damn!
