[Vision2020] Newborns Now Registered As Third Sex

In India the British called them "eunuchs" but the Indians themselves use
the Urdu term "hijra." They self-identify as female, but they insist that
they are neither male or female. They have been lobbying for a law similar
to that which the Germans have just passed. There is much more in Wikipedia
under "hijras."
I've attached a file of two of them extorting money from two fathers (one
of them my colleague in Gandhi studies) at a December, 1999 wedding in New
Delhi. When the flow of 100 rupee notes ($2.50) stopped, one of them
started to undress, and the money kept going for some time thereafter.
