Woman arrested for allegedly stabbing, pouring gas on husband
Police arrested a 38-year-old Moscow woman Saturday night after responding to the 2300 block of South Main Street where her husband reported being doused with gasoline and stabbed in the face.
Mary E. Moore and her husband were allegedly fighting because he complained about her not keeping the trailer clean, according to court records. She allegedly came into the bedroom with a butcher knife and can of gasoline while he was on the bed and covered his legs with the fuel and lit a piece of paper near him. Moore later allegedly stabbed and cut him along his jaw while waving her hands around during the argument, records state.
Her husband did not require hospitalization, Moscow Police Lt. Dave Lehmitz said. They were married in February, and records state the incident occurred while three children were in the trailer with ages ranging from nine months to five years old.
Moore was arrested and faces a charge of felony domestic battery in the presence of a child in Latah County 2nd District Court. Bail was set Monday at $5,000 and a preliminary hearing for Thursday. She faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
