[Vision2020] gun violence debate

Paul Rumelhart's posting informs us:

"People who want to own guns for defense live in fear. From whence does this fear originate?
From other people with guns!"  

And so begins the infinite loop of paranoia.

For instance:  John buys two guns because Jim, the guy down the street, purchased a gun.  Out of fear of John and his two guns, Jim buys an AR-15 and a couple 30-round magazines.  John buys two AR-15s and a 90-round drum.

By the end of the month, John (whose office resembles an infantry unit's arms room) is looking to buy a storage unit for his 4.2 mortar launcher, and Jim is installing Claymore mines around the perimeter of his house.

Tell us, Mr. Rumelhart . . .
