AFAIK there are no laws depriving two people any pleasures of being together.  I know several couples who have been together for decades without getting married who are much happier than the friends I have who go through multiple legal marriages.  I also have friends who have gotten married because they didn't want to be alone and who subsequently wound up alone & married.  The way I see it is that a healthy balanced / compatible relationship is magnitudes more important than a 20 minute (if that) wedding ceremony and a marriage certificate.

That said - same gender marriage are a foregone conclusion IMO based on past history of marriage bans (specifically Loving vs. Virginia 1967).

I turn 62 in August.  Rodna turns 65 in September.  We turned 40 a few weeks ago.
