PRESS RELEASE
City Prepares for Main Street Grind and Inlay Project

February 6, 2013 (Moscow, Idaho) - In preparation for the Main Street Grind and Inlay Project later this summer, City Water and Street Department crews will be performing utility repairs on Main Street between 6th and "A" Street beginning on Tuesday, February 12.

The Main Street Grind and Inlay Project, to occur this summer, will consist of milling the top 2 inches of the existing asphalt in the travel lanes only, sealing any existing cracks, applying a geotextile fabric to inhibit reflective cracking, and replacing the 2 inches of asphalt. The project will be followed by a slurry seal applied to the full width of Main Street, including the parking lanes. The base project will run from 6th Street to 3rd Street, with additional alternatives extending the project north to 2nd or "A" Street depending on bids received.

In an effort to avoid potential damage to the new asphalt pavement from possible future repairs, the City of Moscow Water Department will replace 44 water services and replace 4 fire hydrants over the next few weeks. Main Street will remain open to traffic during this work, but isolated parking areas will be periodically affected. Excavated areas will receive a temporary asphalt patch until the resurfacing project occurs.
