Well he just about violated every rule I used to lay out to my students when we held our mock legislatures and they went to testify as activists....but bully for him.  The governor has a Task Force in place and the arrogant School Boards Association (which includes all our local boards) plans to hold their own feast and there aren’t even crumbs for teachers.  Does it strike anyone as ironic that this group proposes what they say is fair to both teachers and boards, yet they are unwilling to wait for the recommendations from the Governor’s Task Force, which includes teachers as well as board members?  The Lewiston Board, Boise, and maybe one or two others in southern Idaho have taken a public position in opposition, but not Moscow, Troy, Potlatch, Genesee.  

Know how I spent most of my vacation last week?  Writing letters of recommendation for wonderful young teachers who are seriously considering leaving the profession and the state.  And I did spend a number of hours trying to find money for a couple of Idaho teachers who need it for professional development through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and none of the funds I have will cover them because they don’t work in the right districts. If only they worked in South Chicago, I could get that $1500 in a heartbeat.  I get so damn frustrated....excuse the rant, just hit delete.

A joint session of Idaho's Senate and House Education Committees conducted a public hearing this morning concerning three bills being considered for adoption.  These three bill were on last November's ballot as propositions by Superintendent Luna and were soundly defeated
