[Vision2020] Huh?

I agree Joe. The best we can hope for from Tom is an apology and every
once in a blue moon (and we had one this month), Tom delivers.

Let's see what kind a good advice that Scott Dredge wrote to Tom last December that Tom ignored:

'My
own opinion is that you repeatedly jump to conclusions time and time
again and never learn that things aren't always as they appear. It gets
a little old after many decades. Maybe dig a little deeper instead of
constantly shooting from the hip.'

http://mailman.fsr.com/pipermail/vision2020/2012-December/087985.html

For
a guy who repeatedly ballyhoos 'evolution', Tom is living proof of
someone who doesn't evolve, doesn't adapt, doesn't learn. I find this
to be ironic.

Tom ironically advises others to 'Grow up'.
Tom ironically advises others to 'Take your meds'.
Tom ironically suggests to others that they're having trouble with 6th grade reading comprehension.
Tom ironically suggests to others that they're having trouble with the English language.

'Leave
Tom alone. Tom's a nice guy. Tom's a well respected and beloved
member of the community. Tom's a Democrat.' I don't dispute any of
that. I just don't particularly like when Tom calls someone else's
integrity into question.

On the topic of integrity. Tom's
definition of integrity of is 'SAY WHAT YOU MEAN and MEAN WHAT YOU SAY'
and he wrote in thread last September where he then gave a real life example
of his own demonstrating that he did the exact opposite of what he
said. To quote Tom, 'Draw your own conclusion.'

http://mailman.fsr.com/pipermail/vision2020/2012-September/085545.html

For what it's worth, I don't think Tom lacks integrity. He lacks common sense, but we'll all just need to continue powering through that and whenever we see subject headings of 'Huh?' and 'Say What?', we know from past experience that Tom has taken some sound bite out context and jumped to conclusions like he always does and we'll just need to set the record straight again. And again. And again.

I had no doubt that Dan would accept Tom's apology. He accepted it in one sentence. He would have accepted it if Tom's apology had been one sentence. From what I can tell, Dan's not the type to carry any grudges or any chips on his shoulders like others on the viz do.

I agree. What does that have to do with my post? A post that had nothing to do with Mr. Carscallen, nothing to do with jumping to idiot conclusions, and definitely nothing to do with atonement?

I think you should reread my post, pop open a dictionary, and try and work on your vocabulary. At no point in the post you refer to was there any "atoning" going on. Trust me, I was there.

I could have copped out with the lame excuse of being "snarkie", since humor was the intent of my posting.

As one Viz subscriber so appropriately atoned earlier today:
"I'm not the person taking others to task for snarkiness, salty language, or calling attention to items in the news such as death threats. I'm much more a fan of the anything goes model of internet discourse."

But, I sought a more responsive ground and apologized, because . . .
Although the intent of my posting was mere humor, I could understand why some could (and would) take offense to the mistakenly implied disrepect in the sarcastic tone of my comments.

Yes. I did apologize to Dan Carscallen off-list. With Dan's permission, I would be willing to share that apology publicly here on the Viz.

Understandable to jump to conclusions when only drawing from scant information and prejudice. Hopefully Dan will accept your apology. He's a stand up guy.

My apologies to Dan Carscallen for misinterpreting the Facebook commentary.
I have been advised that . . .

1) Dan Carscallen was picking up a young person who has either been injured or overindulged and they needed a ride to the hospital for treatment.

2) A resident if the dorm pulled a fire alarm and Dan Carscallen, as Fire Command, needed to reset the alarm system.

Again, my apologies to Dan "Area Man" Carscallen for my wrongful and inappropriate interpretation. Although, all I had to go on was what was in front of me.

Is this to suggest that Dan Carscallen was in a sorority (or fraternity) between midnight and 3 AM where "well, there was booze"?

Draw your own conclusion.
