[Vision2020] Can you determine the year this photo was taken?

I recognize one of my friends from high school, who graduated in '84.  I'm not sure if he started playing before he graduated or not, but it makes the think that mid-1980's is about right.

I would say early to Mid 1980s would by guess based on hairstyles, shoes, and clothing selection. Looks like the boy on the left is wearing pants I wore in 1984. The shoe laces undone on purpose was popular in 1980s. Sunglasses look like late seventies and early 80s too.

When I arrived in Moscow in August '92, my primary hangout was the Rathaus on North Main, where I shared many a beer with Vern.  Vern's Chevron, at that time was located at the southwest corner of Third Street and Jackson.  My sister-in-law tells me that, when she was attending UI in the mid-60s, Vern's Chevron was located where Rosauers is located now.

Back to the original question:  Any guesses as to when this photo was taken?
