[Vision2020] Vision2020 Digest, Vol 82, Issue 207

Think of it as the right to protect yourself.  I don't think the Constitution was meant to be a religious text.  It's just saying that the government should not take the ability to protect themselves from harm, especially from the government, away from the people.  The philosophical question of whether a given right comes from God, is part of us innately, or is granted by Cthulhu is not within the scope of the document.

To quote from the movie Hidalgo:  "God didn't make all men equal.  Mr. Colt did."

Paul

P.S. How cool is it that Firefox's spell checker knew the proper spelling for Cthulhu?

I am, asa Christian, more than a little interested to hear from whom the absolute right -- nay, obligation -- to own and use firearms comes from, and which is merely "recognized" by the Constitution.

Surely Bouma and the Citizens American Party patriarchs wouldn't dare claim that the Lord Jesus Christ, whom at least Bouma claims as his Lord and Savior, is that source, given that the Prince of Peace only used violent-image metaphors to undergird both His claim to be the ultimate Judge and the One who has conquered evil by no means other than the power of His love.
