Business Showcase Event

April 11, 2013 (Moscow, Idaho; Pullman, Washington) - Business presenters have been selected for Palouse Knowledge Corridor's upcoming Business Showcase event to promote economic development and growth on the Palouse. This event is free and open to the public, April 25, 2013, from 2-5 p.m. at the Schierman's Clubhouse and Event Center. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Business presenters are local entrepreneurs, including business plan competition competitors from both the University of Idaho and Washington State University, as well as local community members from Latah and Whitman counties. Confirmed presenters include the following:

· BioCement, a product developed by University of Idaho students led by Malcolm Burbank, is a patented technology to be used for liquefaction mitigation at both developed and undeveloped building sites. Current methods such as stone columns and deep dynamic compaction are generally practical at only undeveloped sites. This product allows for easier soil improvement beneath and around already existing structures-an extremely difficult process with existing techniques. It is also generally faster, less costly, and more environmentally responsible than other means of soil improvement.

· Artfully Yours Bakery, owned by Brianna Morton, is an allergen-free bakery specializing in artisan pastries that appeal to those with food allergies. Their bread, cakes, cookies, pastries, and sandwiches contain no gluten, nuts, eggs, soy, or dairy products. Also in development are corn-free recipes and sugar-free products. Extra care is given to the flavor and texture of products so that they taste just as good as "normal food." Artfully Yours Bakery is living its slogan, "Good Food for All."

· GenTree Project, founded by Brandy Ramos, a senior in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Idaho and Genesee, Idaho, resident, is working to make a positive impact on her community and make a difference in the lives of children. The purpose of the GenTree Project is to develop and maintain a self-sustaining community center in Genesee that will offer events and services to meet the needs of all age groups in our community, to have a positive impact on citizens and visitors, and to promote community excellence.

The PKC is also working to confirm participants from the Washington State University business competition, as well as local Washington and Lewis-Clark Valley businesses to present at the showcase.

The goal of the Business Showcase event is to connect people with good business ideas to those who might be able to make those ideas happen. Each presenter will showcase their business in 15-20 minutes presentations highlighting their business idea and relating management, product and/or service, technology, market, financial viability, potential return on investment, amount of investment required, exit strategy, and employee growth implications.

Those involved in business startups, entrepreneurs or investors, as well as interested community members are encouraged to attend. Those who wish to attend this event may be private individuals or venture capitalists and there is no obligation to invest in any of the ideas presented.

Schierman's is located at 3225 Robinson Park Road in Moscow, Idaho. To get to the event center, from Mountain View Road in Moscow, head east on Joseph Street through the roundabout taking the third exit continuing on Joseph Street, which then becomes Robinson Park Road. Schierman's is about 1 mile from Mountain View Road.
