CommUNITY Walk sends important message
On behalf of the Walk Planning Committee, we would like to invite our area community to participate in the Seventh Annual Moscow CommUNITY Walk, scheduled for April 27. We believe the CommUNITY Walk celebration truly reflects our increasingly diverse/pluralistic social environment, our missions being to promote unity and harmony among all.
We would like to remind the community the CommUNITY Walk was recognized nationally last year by the American Planning Association as a most worthy community event. Also, the celebration has the endorsement of Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter, the Idaho Legislature and, of course, Mayor Nancy Chaney as well as the University of Idaho administration and the Associated Students of the University of Idaho.
As for logistics, participants gather at noon in Friendship Square. After welcoming remarks by local leaders, we walk together to East City Park, carrying banners and balloons, and accompanied by a local music band. At the park, family entertainment activities follow, along with a free potluck meal.
Our expenses run about $5,000, raised through tax-deductible contributions. Any assistance is most welcome.
We welcome any suggestions for improvement, and we invite volunteers to assist us. For questions or comments, contact (208) 596-0602. Our website is
http://www.MoscowCommUNITYWalk.org
Most importantly, please join the celebration.
