[Vision2020] A Couple Questions, V-Peeps

According to the caption on the flicker photo that I posted:

REMARK: This tar paper and lathe building was located on the north side of Third street, just east of the Federal Building and Post Office (constructed in 1911). Today [2010] the site is used as a parking lot. The banner on the east end of the structure states "Union Evangelistic Meetings, Conducted by . . ."

In other words the city parking lot directly across third st. from my shop with the photo taken from aprox. the NW corner of third and jefferson. The original photo hansen posted appears to be a view of the opposite end of the bldg. facing ESE. I'm judging this by the fact that there are no doors on the end facing the photographer and the sign is bigger. If I'm correct (something you may do well to doubt) the masonry bldg. in the upper left corner of the original photo would be to the north either where the current parsonage is or perhaps closer (not across second st. but on the same block as the PO and UE bldg. about where the Mann bldg sits currently.

I'm guessing that you and I are the only ones still interested in this topic. Sorry to flog this. Old photos of Moscow and local history fascinate me.

Okay, I'm confused now. As I looked at it, I imagined that the photographer was standing on the south west corner of Washington and 3rd. There is just a hint of the roof line of the old federal bldg. which I think was probably build sometime between 1890 and 1905. The wooden Evangelical Mission bldg is sitting, I think, on the south east side of Washington and 3rd about where (is it Latah?) Realty is now. The Methodist Church, across from the High School was build in 1904 - 1905. I know someone, a stone mason I think, was killed during the construction. I can't see where the Episcopal parsonage comes into the picture.

I don't think the bldg. in the background of the photo hanson posted is the federal bldg, (it is a 150 yards to the south and wasn't constructed till the late seventies/early eighties) nor is it the old post office. If you compare the two photos, the bldg. in question appears to be to the north, property currently occupied by the episcopal church parsonage.

Me too, Rose. The Federal Building looks different at that angle. I wonder if it will be for sale on eBay too. The problem with that picture is it doesn't show anything important but an old wooden building. If it had people, cars, or a better view of the Federal Building it would be more meaningful, I think.

Brilliant, Gary. I knew the bldg seemed familiar but for the life of me I
couldn't place it.
Thanks,
Rose
