Dear Visionaries:

Researchers in my national union's office did a little research on Romney's
claims about his educational achievements in his "home" state. Citizens
there complain about the fact that he spent the last two years of his term
running for the 2008 GOP nomination.

*The Truth about Education in Romney’s Massachusetts*

Under the leadership of liberal Democrats and Liberal Republicans governors
student achievement in Massachusetts was already the nation’s highest. Here
is a summary of Mitt Romney’s actions while in office:

 • Proposed cutting $18 million needed to reduce class sizes.

 • Cut $23 million from much-needed grants and scholarships for students to
attend college.

 • Eliminated grant funding for full-day kindergarten and early literacy
programs.

• Vetoed a universal prekindergarten bill and questioned the benefits of
early childhood education.

• Cut $2.3 million in special education funds and vetoed $6.5 million for
special education residential schools.
