The City of Moscow is excited to begin a comprehensive strategic planning process for the Moscow Farmers Market. The project is the result of a successful grant application awarded by the USDA as a Rural Business Enterprise Grant. The City is pleased to partner with Aaron Zaretsky, Principal with Public Market Development, the successful responder to the Request for Proposal process.
The process for development of the Strategic Plan will include several public meetings, including a Market site visit and vendor meeting on October 27 and a public meeting on October 29, 2012. Zaretsky will also join Moscow citizens to facilitate additional public meetings to be held throughout the duration of the development of the plan, the next in early December and the final meeting at the conclusion of the planning process to present the report.
The first public meeting for the planning process will be held at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. At this session, Zaretsky will engage the community on the question, "Where should the Moscow Farmers Market be heading?" This meeting is free and open to the public, including business owners, market vendors, and the general public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions, thoughts and opinions to be discussed and documented for consideration in the development of the strategic plan, helping to decide the best path for the future of the Moscow Farmers Market.
For those unable to attend the meeting comments and feedback are being requested via email to marketplan at ci.moscow.id.us<mailto:marketplan at ci.moscow.id.us>. All electronic input will be included in the information gathered for the plan. For questions regarding the plan process, please contact Jen Pfiffner, Assistant to the City Supervisor at 208.883.7123.
