PRESS RELEASE
Avista Utilities construction project temporarily closes a portion of Paradise Path

October 17, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) - The Paradise Path along Berman Creekside Park and Styner Avenue will be closed for a portion of Thursday, October 18th and again from October 22nd through 26th while Avista Utilities upgrades the poles and wires connected to the Moscow City Substation. Possible temporary closures might also occur on the Latah Trail east toward Mill Road and the Moscow 230kV Substation near the Elks Golf Course. Alternate routes for these sections of trail would include using Styner Street and Highway 95 or neighboring residential streets. The City urges users to be safe and cautious using these alternate routes.

Avista is working to update the outdated communication system by installing approximately one mile of fiber-optic cable. This work will help provide more reliable, efficient electric service to homes and businesses. In addition to adding fiber-optic technology, old wooden poles are being replaced with new steel poles that will require less maintenance in the future. Transmission lines will also be upgraded for greater efficiency and a higher clearance area for safety. Avista does not anticipate any power outages related to this work.

For more information about the Paradise Path closure, please contact Tom Grundin, Parks and Facilities Manager by phone at 208.883.7098 or by email at tgrundin at ci.moscow.id.us<mailto:tgrundin at ci.moscow.id.us>.
