[Vision2020] FW: In other words . . .

The list continues to grow longer and more divergent, but here's my breakdown:

1) On the simple matter of 'one hand can wash the other'
  a) Could refer to positive cooperation
  b) Could refer to quid pro quo type of corruption
  c) Could refer to an obsessive / compulsive disorder
  d) Could be a whole host of other things that could continue being enumerated

2) Mathew 19:21 - "Jesus said to him, 'If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
  a) Tom's interpretation - in other words this simply means 'one hand washes the other' -??
  b) Wayne's suggestion - Put this in context of Mathew 19:24 'And again I say unto you,it is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God'
  c) Scott's viewpoint - 'Jesus seems to be saying that in order to be perfect you need to become destitute by giving away all of your worldly possessions to the poor which will result in them in temporarily not being destitute / perfect.' I'm guessing there's more to this particular story that probably puts everything into a much more logical context.

3) Thomas Sowell says in effect that he doesn't understand why an individual sitting on a pile of cash is considered 'greed' but that other individuals 'stealing' this same pile of cash is not considered 'greed'.
  a) Doug thinks that Thomas Sowell being a black man is unaware that his sentiment is racist. FWIW - I'm unaware that Thomas Sowell's sentiment is racist too.
  b) Tom thinks in other words that Doug's comments and/or Thomas Sowell's comments are a simple matter of 'one hand washing the other'
  c) Scott's viewpoint - 'There might be some point to all, but instead of zeroing in on it, we're continuing to diverge away from it'.

To avoid unnecessary debate/discussion, here is a more generic translation . . .
It's a simple matter of why we were born with two hands . . . so that one hand can wash the other.

I am sure there is a famous quote to that affect somewhere.

Someone could enhance the discussion by stating the whole context ... "eye of a needle" etc.

I'm not seeing how any of these things are connected, but then again I'm the slow kid on the viz. It looks to me like Doug is writing - and perhaps in jest - that Thomas Sowell being a black man portraying 'confusion' about the definition of the word 'greed' may be unaware that his 'sentiment' is deeply racist. Ohhhh-Kay. That wouldn't exactly be my take away from the sound bite or irrespective or who uttered it. This is then followed by an equally puzzling Bible verse quoting Jesus advising some guy to sell all of his possessions. give the proceeds to the poor, and in return for a promise to be a gazillionaire in the Great Beyond.

Maybe there is a good starting point to a discussion in here somewhere...
