PRESS RELEASE
City of Moscow Tree Commission to Host Community Tree Planting

May 10, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) - The Moscow Tree Commission would like to invite interested citizens to a Community Tree Planting at the Travois Way Green Strip on Wednesday, May 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Green Strip is located between Pine Cone Road on the west and Blaine Avenue on the East. The planting effort is a commitment to the Moscow Tree Commission's ongoing effort to promote the ideals of the Tree City USA program as outlined by the Arbor Day Foundation. Moscow has received the Tree City USA Arbor Day Award for 19 years running, the most recent award was given on April 27, 2012 by a representative of the Idaho Department of Lands on behalf of the Arbor Day Foundation.

Approximately 65 shrubs and small trees will be planted at Travois Way by volunteers that evening, as a means of improving the landscape and visual barrier between Travois Way and Highway 8. Plantings will be made on both sides of Paradise Creek, and along the adjoining Paradise Path. Volunteers, including members of the Moscow High School Environmental Club, will meet at 6:00 p.m., obtain shovels, and then plant at locations along the strip. Plantings will be coordinated by the Moscow Tree Commission and Tom Grundin, Parks & Facilities Manager for the City of Moscow.

Please join the members of the Tree Commission as they seek to make Moscow a green place for current and future generations!
