[Vision2020] Moscow (May 1936)

The UI Library has some things that may help. They have phone books and city directories in Special Collections (not sure of the dates of each, as they're not cataloged). There's also the Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, which show the location of buildings and their uses. They're available for Moscow from 1888 to 1950. There's an online version, but if you're not faculty/staff/student, it has to be used from an on-campus computer. They're also on microfilm, in the collection on 2nd floor.

If you want to see Moscow Historical Photos by year, go to http://www.lib.uidaho.edu/digital/index.html, select the Ott Collection, then "Timeline". 170 pictures, arranged by date. You can also select "Map" and their locations will be displayed on a Google map.

Thanks for the post Tom. I really enjoy these older pictures.

I was wondering, does the Historical Society or the Chamber of Commerce have a list of all the businesses that have every been in Moscow? It would be interesting to see which businesses were where and when, who owned them, and what kind of store they were. I know the business my Grandfather started, Tri-State, had two other locations downtown before its current location.

It would also be nice to get a picture of Moscow from every year available and put them in chronological order till today and have it posted online.
