No, I'm not under 40, and too soon will achieve 80.
So by simple math, rounded, I subscribe to not just one [Daily News], but two "hard copy" "papers" [Lewiston Trib, too].
I like a real paper in my hands. And it is vexsomely frustrating to navigate all parts of a virtual newspaper as easily as with a real paper in front of me.
Even so, I spend way too much time reading news on the screens of my PC's and smart phone.
I am glad, though, that the Oregonian and Statesman on-line are free.

When I was a little kid I use to wonder how the Idahoian and Lewiston Tribune could make a lot of money when it only charged 25 cents for a paper. Then of course I learned from my uncle about advertising and that was how they made money.
So I understood, the 25 cents was just to cover the delivery costs. So I am wondering, why does the Daily News still charge for the subscription to its online content?
Wouldn't it make more sense to have more readers with more advertisers? Which would mean it could raise more revenue from advertisers instead of quarters from its small number of readers?
It seems odd they would insist on this ancient business strategy. Don't they realize that the under 35 crowd has never, and will never pay out money for news and information which they have been getting free online their entire adult lives. I mean, if they won't pay for their music and movies, why would they pay to read about the Broncos leaving the Mountain West?
I would think if the Daily News wants to stay in business, it would want young readers to start reading its paper early in life so they have a customer base in the future. Lots of newspapers have been biting the dust as the technology moves on. But if you noticed, the ones that are still around are the ones that are online, free, and have lots of advertising which is sometime interactive.
Is there anyone on the Viz under 40 that subscribes to the Daily News?
