Has anybody here made an account and started signing petitions at
whitehouse.gov?
I just made an account today and signed a couple of petitions I agreed
with. To do so, just go to https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions and
make an account (there should be a bar at the bottom of the screen that
will allow you to do this if you don't have javascript turned off). You
can then read through the open petitions and sign the ones you agree
with. The rule is, if a petition gets 25,000 signatures within 30 days,
the petition will get an "official response".
It may be naive to think that it's more than just a way to let people's
concerns be heard without feeling obligated to actually do anything
about them, but I think it's worth the effort. In fact, one of the open
petitions right now is to have the government view these petitions as if
they meant something.
