far the self-anointed mighty have fallen:

Even those that one would think would have an affinity for Wilson's
egomaniac, meglomanical views apparently regard him as a certifiable
crackpot and egoist.  It is hard to see why any thinking member of his
congregation/cult stays with him when such a large proportion of those of
their own ilk find him so outre and transparent.
