Golly <pause> Gee <pause> Mr. Hansen.

Are you ready to issue a litany of Mea Culpas to 1) Dale L. Courtney who you've mistakenly (no surprise) referred to as 'unethical' after reading a tweet from someone unrelated to him and jumping to wild conclusions (no surprise there either) and to 2) Mr. Rumelhart and 3) myself for 'calling us out' for wisely not following your flawed and ill conceived (as usual) line of thinking? Ya know, Tom, some people actually learn from their past mistakes. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!? THEY ACTUALLY LEARN!

Holding my nose, but certainly not holding my breath,

-Scott

This has gone way off topic from Tom making a 'lack of character' charge after a simple tweet. Can we get back to the basics of the running joke?

Gee, Mr. Crabtree. I'm guessin' that those DoD schools with guards are located in a "threat region" where such guards serve a viable purpose, possibly South Korea and . . . (well, you get the picture) . . . none of 'em here in the Nifty Fifty (USA) and certainly not in communities like Newtown, Connecticut.
But, Gary Crabtree is free to let his mind wander (now, THERE is a scary thought).

"Some schools have guards, but for security reasons, officials do not name those locations, said DoDEA’s Rose Chunik, chief of safety and security." No actual mention of whether the guards are armed or not. The perimeter of the grounds the school is situated on is most assuredly protected by men with weapons. All other NRA suggestions with regard to school layout and policy seem to mesh with the DoD's.
"Perhaps Mr. Dredge and Mr. Rumelhart find the promotion of such videos (the very videos the NRA claims to be the cause of the assault-weapon killings in Newtown, Aurora, and Portland) to be acceptable and appropriate. I DON'T !"
So it seems to me that you're pretty much down with the NRA's position despite all your noise to the contrary. g

I have just recently (as in a week ago) come across Courtney's twittering (how's that for a movie title).
Courtney claims (at least he did when he lived here in Moscow) to be a loving, caring Christian who strongly supports family values. Yet, here it was . . . ten days after the Newton (Connecticut) massacre . . . the day before Christmas . . . and Dale Courtney promoting a video whose theme concerns killing people with assault weapons.

This isn't the first (or second or third or . . . ) time I have found Courtney to be, in my opinion, unethical.
For a two- to three-year period, back when I was working at UI Facilities, Courtney filed so many unsupported and meaningless complaints against me (with the UI general counsel's office) that we (me and some of the counsel's staff) developed a first-name relationship. Heck! After a while they suggested that I retain an attorney and file a harassment suit against Courtney. I decided not to.

Perhaps Mr. Dredge and Mr. Rumelhart find the promotion of such videos (the very videos the NRA claims to be the cause of the assault-weapon killings in Newtown, Aurora, and Portland) to be acceptable and appropriate. I DON'T ! ! !

Well, Tom was true to Dale's intent and formed his own opinion. I didn't know Dale was into first-person shooters. This one looks fun, maybe I'll try it sometime when I'm done killing dragons with swords and axes in Skyrim. I'm curious about what Dale's opinion of this is. I suspect Tom will be amazed when he finds out, but I don't really know.

The big take-away for me is that Tom apparently reads Dale's tweets. I don't know quite what to think about that. If you disagree with the guy so much, Tom, why follow him on Twitter?

My own opinion is that you repeatedly jump to conclusions time and time again and never learn that things aren't always as they appear. It gets a little old after many decades. Maybe dig a little deeper instead of constantly shooting from the hip.

And just what is this video is this of which Dale Courtney is so proud that he shares it on Christmas Eve?

As he suggests, view it and "come to your own opinion."
Gee. Maybe he should share this video with the community of Newtown, Connecticut.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Courtney.
