[Vision2020] Isn't it about time...

I liked the chart showing car regulations next to gun regulations. I am no
lawyer, but I'll bet that much of the sticky points on such comparisons come
down to the fact that guns are in the Constitution as a *right*, but driving
is a *privilege* , which is a different kettle of fish. A lot of people
don't realize this about driving, and assume that it is 'our right to
drive.' Nope.

 

So, I would like to start a campaign to repeal the 2nd Amendment. It might
take a while, but we could do it. I'm not saying people shouldn't be able to
have guns. Let's just make it like driving a car. a privilege. 

 

And don't give me those goofy complaints like we need guns because 'what if
we're invaded by the Russians' . or '..we might need to overthrow the
government one day.' The age of guns is over, folks.

 

I don't think many people will take kindly to my suggestion that we repeal
the 2nd Amendment. So, I'll offer a compromise solution: Make it ok to own
guns, but strictly regulate the firing of guns, making it a felony to fire
them. Seems reasonable to me anyway. ;-)  Then, if we really ARE invaded by
the Russians, go ahead and shoot. It won't matter if everybody is committing
felonies, because the Russians that will be invading won't speak English
anyway hardly and won't know about the crazy law. Never mind.
