PRESS RELEASE
MPD to participate in statewide DUI Emphasis Patrols

August 20, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) - The Moscow Police Department, in conjunction with agencies throughout the state, is focusing its efforts to stop those driving under the influence (DUI) as the Labor Day holiday approaches, August 25 through September 8. Impaired drivers represent a risk to everyone on Idaho roadways. The goal of DUI emphasis patrols is to eliminate DUI related traffic fatalities on Idaho roadways.

DUI emphasis patrols dedicated to decreasing impaired driving often result in violations other than DUI offenses including warrant arrests, drug arrests, child safety seat violations, suspended license citations, and uninsured motorist citations.

The results of drinking and driving are often tragic. Citizens are encouraged to consider the danger and risks of driving under the influence and how it can affect their lives, the lives of their loved ones and other motorists. If holiday celebrations involve alcohol, please designate a sober driver. If you see a drunk driver or suspect a drunk driver please contact the nearest law enforcement agency.

Please buckle up, drive sober, and have a safe holiday.

For more information, please contact Lieutenant Paul Kwiatkowski at 208.883.7067 or by email at pkwiatkowski at ci.moscow.id.us<mailto:pkwiatkowski at ci.moscow.id.us>
