[Vision2020] (Correction) Joel Courtney and Dale Courtney

Scott,
I don't think Dale was aiming to convert you. I think he was attempting to articulate his viewpoints and help persuade those on the fence about certain issues. The website, or one very much like it, will pop up somewhere, maybe even run by Dale under a different name. One thing is certain though, Dale was honest in his beliefs. I don't think that is true about many of the pundits on TV. Many of them just say outrageous things to stir people and get the network ratings up.

I'm disappointed not only that right-mind.us was taken down, but that almost all trace of it has been completely erased from the internet. I found it to be enormously entertaining and I liked commenting on Dale's posts and running circles around him which was easy to do because his positions were logically and legally indefensible. I was shocked last year when I tried to post a comment and got an error message to the effect of 'user banned' and then shortly after that the site vanished. When I went searching for any trace of Dale, I hit on a wikipedia entry for the movie Super 8 and that was my 'aha moment' where it all made sense to me. I always knew Dale was completely mis-guided, but he definitely is quite intelligent so I'm not surprised one bit (though a little impressed) that he wiped all traces of his mostly reprehensible posts off the internet.
And as for the comment that 'Dale was a powerful persuasive voice for conservative', I think that the jury is out on that one. For the most part, he was just preaching to conservative choir. I never really did believe that right-mind.us was Idaho's #1 Influential Blog. He didn't influence much of anything save for providing lots of chuckles, a few guffaws, and the occasional 'do some so-called conservatives actually believe this crap?'

Y'all, it was not the intention of my last email to come across as saying that Rose didn't like Moscow. Her work in the community is testament enough that she loves and respects the City, and has made it a better place because of it. I have nothing but the greatest respect for Rose Huskey.

I have no problem saying, "Good job, Joel Courtney!" He shouldn't be denied that public recognition simply because he is 16 instead of 18. We do it for the teen that scored a touch down in high school football. We ought to be able to do it for all real successes of teenagers in our community that do good things, not just sports.
The following statement is the same as mentioning him by name because it unmistakeably specifically identifies him;
"Dale has been strangely quiet since his son became a movie star. By a curious coincidence the “Right Mind” website was been removed around the time that Super 8 was released."
I also disagree that Moscow is "Dodge". It is a great place, a real destination in its own right. I hope he stays, raises his family, and makes the deep connections with the awesome Moscow community. He would be an incredible addition to an already great city. Southern California is the place I hope he doesn't end up.
I don't believe by mentioning the talents of others in Hollywood, such as talent searcher, agents, and producers that created a movie and found him diminishes the fact that he is highly talented and succeeded because of it.

I am delighted that Dale’s son (who I do not name as he is a minor and bears no responsibility for his father’s conduct) can get out of Dodge and do something that he clearly enjoys and shows genuine skill in doing. I have never questioned Dale’s parenting ability – indeed, I have every reason to believe that he isa good father who loves and cares for his children. That said, I am really truly delighted that he has taken Right Mind – which in my opinion should have been called “Out Of My Mind” - down. I don’t think liberals should make any claim on young Courtney’s success. He earned that through his own talent and diligence – but it is to be hoped that he will learn from firsthand experience all the propaganda and hateful rhetoric he has heard about the “Intoleristas,” for example, just isn’t true. And short of hanging out with freaks like Mel Gibson, he probably has learned that Braveheart is really not good
history, and not very many folks admire the Confederacy or the traitors who organized it.

I think it is cool that Dale's son is a movie star. It is nice to see people be successful, even if I may disagree with their parent's political leanings. Dale, regardless of some people's feelings about him, obviously did a good job raising his son. I don't think it is strange that Dale is not as vocal, he wants his son to be successful as any parent does. I would be more concerned if Dale was not concerned about crushing his son's future. If Right-Mind is not as active, this is a another good thing that resulted from his son's success. Dale was a powerful intelligent persuasive voice for conservatives, of which they have few.
The other positive aspect about this is that he owes liberals partially for his son's success. Working in Hollywood, his son will also be exposed to articulate arguments on the more liberal side of politics and work with many diverse people.
I wish nothing but the best of success for Joel Courtney. Another Moscow boy made good. I look forward to enjoying his future performances as I did with Super 8.

Dale has been strangely quiet since his son became a movie star. By a curious coincidence the “Right Mind” website was been removed around the time that Super 8 was released. It certainly says worlds about his commitment to right-wing politics, doesn’t it? Imagine what a link to old Massa Dog Wilson would do for him – talk about bad publicity…. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t imagine that a religious allegiance to a sect that arranges and officiates at the wedding of a pedophile would be any kind of an moral endorsement either.

Dale Courtney used to regularly link to Bryan Fischer's postings from the so-called 'Idaho Values Alliance' website.
