City of Moscow Celebrates Earth Week
 
April 10, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) – The City of Moscow is celebrating Earth Week with events for the entire community.
 
Mayor’s Earth Day Awards – Monday, April 16th, City Council Meeting at 7 p.m.
Mayor Nancy Chaney will announce the recipients of the 2012 Mayor’s Earth Day awards.  The awards recognize Moscow residents for activities conducive to environmental sustainability. Categories include individuals, businesses, students/schools, non-profits/service organizations/government, building/development, green visionaries (long-range environmental objectives), and green neighbors (from nearby communities).  For more information, please contact Assistant to the City Supervisor Jen Pfiffner by email at jpfiffner at ci.moscow.id.us or by phone at 208.883.7123.
 
Earth Week Fair – Thursday, April 19th, 2-6 p.m. 
There will be booths, giveaways, and an opportunity to learn how the City can help you become more sustainable. City staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about sustainable programs and practices. Citizens will also have a chance to meet with other sustainability minded community members that are involved in local business and various sustainability groups. City of Moscow Clean Up Day - Friday, April 20th, 9 a.m.
Meet the City of Moscow, Chamber of Commerce, and University of Idaho Students at the annual Moscow Cleanup Day in Friendship Square. Active Living Neighborhood Greenway Assessment – Saturday, April 21st, 10 a.m.
Join the City of Moscow’s Active Living Task Force in assessing a proposed route in Moscow as a Neighborhood Greenway.  Neighborhood Greenways are streets with low traffic volume and speed where bicycles, pedestrians, and neighbors are given priority.  The Task Force invites anyone interested to meet them at Friendship Square on Saturday the 21st at 10 a.m. to walk the route and assist in assessing it for potential implementation within our community.  The group is also looking for volunteers to be team captains for the event.  For more information or to volunteer, please contact Assistant to the City Supervisor Jen Pfiffner by email at jpfiffner at ci.moscow.id.us or by phone at 208.883.7123.
 
Active in April, Third Street Gallery Showing – Monday – Friday through April 24th, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
