I think the Republicans are desperate for a candidate that could win. Romney is the only candidate the public doesn't out right reject, and I don't think he is strong enough to win. I don't think this Christie governor is fit enough to deal with the physical demands of a modern presidential campaign.

I believe Chris Christie is one of the most exciting conservative
figures to emerge in recent years.
It's a shame he doesn't want to run (despite repeated GOP pleadings).
(Of course, to paraphrase Andy Rooney: "We need a president who's smart
enough to not want the job in the first place")
