-------------
Note the continued anomalous warmth in the Arctic, and Antarctic
regions, and also, in Texas, which saw the warmest summer in the
instrumental record for any US state (
http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2011/20110908_auguststats.html )
along with record setting fires this summer season.
The anomalous warmth in the polar regions was predicted by climate
scientists decades ago, as a response to increasing atmospheric CO2
level from anthropogenic emissions, sometimes called "polar
amplification:"
Manabe, Syukuro, and Ronald J Stouffer, 1980: Sensitivity of a global
climate model to an increase of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.
Journal of Geophysical Research, 85(C10), 5529-5554.
