[Vision2020] Postal Service Is Nearing Default as Losses Mount

But back then the US Post Office was smart enough to adapt to the existing technology and with the invention of the telegraph got rid of its horses and pit stops.

A modern Post Office should be a Computer Server sending us all our business mail and junk mail via the Internet and contracting out private companies to deliver when a physical item needed to be shipped. It is idiotic to physically deliver a letter than can be sent electronically for a cost of fractions of a penny. It could charge for the junk email and make billions instead of losing billions. It should sell off its buildings and vehicles to pay off its debt. Duh!

Ron Force reminds us . . .

"The Pony Express charged $5.00 per 1/2 oz in 1860. That's the equivalent of $120 today."

Damn!

I better start saving now if I wanna get those Christmas cards out on time.

"When all is said and done, have you done or said enough?  Have you just gone along for the ride, or have you steered destiny's hotrod?  When you leave this world, did you make it any better than it was when you arrived?  All you need is all you've got: your wits and the clothes on your back.  Your epitaph is yours to earn.  Your legacy is yours to make."
