For those who are interested & haven't had the opportunity to see this
documentary, please see below for an excellent opportunity.

Personally, I found the documentary to be incredibly informative & to
provide information those "the miracles of natural gas & the safety of
fracking" commercials oh, so conveniently ignore.

Gasland: Screening and Discussion

Wild Idaho Rising Tide and Palouse Group Sierra Club are co-sponsoring a
Moscow showing of Gasland at 7 pm on Saturday, October 22. This
prize-winning film discloses the Halliburton-developed drilling technology
called hydraulic fracturing or "fracking" that could soon threaten Idaho
groundwater beneath Payette County. Over the last decade, this unsafe
practice has unleashed the largest natural gas drilling boom in United
States history. After filmmaker Josh Fox received an offer to lease his
land for fracking, he embarked on a cross-country odyssey to uncover energy
industry secrets, lies, contamination, and flammable drinking water.
Accompanied by plenty of bluegrass banjo music, his documentary contains
elements of a travelogue, mystery, expose, and showdown. The movie was
nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar earlier this year and recently earned
an Emmy Award for Outstanding Direction for Nonfiction Programming.
Currently working on the sequel Gasland 2, Fox recently marched at the
Marcellus Shale protest in Philadelphia and was arrested at the Tar Sands
Action at the White House.

Learn about the health hazards, environmental costs, and climate impacts of
hydraulic fracturing/drilling for natural gas before the public comment
periods for Idaho's new draft rules governing this process end on October 26
and November 15. We anticipate a lively discussion among concerned
community members after the film screening in the Arts Workshop Room of the
1912 Center, 412 East Third Street in Moscow. At this gathering, WIRT
activists will also speak about potential fracking impacts on southern Idaho
farm and ranch lands and will provide comment talking points about proposed
state fracking rules.
