Tom:

I agree that First Step Internet provides a great service to the
community by hosting Vision 2020. I also agree that these days
"geeks" rule the world. But that doesn't mean we should just sit mum
while "geeks" toss our personal information around all over the
internet.

Step serves an immeasurable public benefit by maintaining Vision 2020.

It is far more than simply a community "office water cooler".

If somebody's pet or child is missing, there is no quicker or more
efficient mode of communication than Vision 2020.

If somebody has a question, you would be surprised how quickly and how
many responses are posted.

The benefits associated with Vision 2020 FAAAAAAR outweigh any alleged
discomfort you assume.

And, as far as anonymous slander is concerned . . .

I'm guessin' that, if he wanted to, Bill Moore can track down exactly
what computer terminal was used and exactly when your email was
transmitted, by having an FSR techie browse over the header of your
email.

engines track the forum posts. Why do people on the internet need to
have access to the local posts on the forum? That's not freedom, it
is slander with technology.

having the freedom to slander others across the internet should not be
allowed by First Step Internet. All First Step has to do is simply
make the forum's posts untrackable by search engines. Nothing else on
the forum would change.
