PRESS RELEASE
Potential Changes to be made to Moscow Day Care Code

November 15, 2011 (Moscow, Idaho) - City of Moscow day care authorities are taking input on potential changes to the City of Moscow Day Care Code until November 30, 2011. Input will be reported to the Moscow City Council Administrative Committee for discussion and potential revisions to the relating ordinance will be considered.

The two items to be considered include an increase in child to staff ratios or number of children allowed per provider. For the purpose of calculating child to staff ratios, a point system based on the child's age is used and currently 10 points per staff person is allowed. Also to be discussed is whether a provider's own children should count in requirements for facility licensing and registration. Currently, registration is required for those who watch 4 or more children for compensation and a license is required for those who watch 6 or more children for compensation, and the provider's own children are not counted in those totals.

For more information or to submit input and recommendations please contact Keli Jones, Deputy City Clerk at kjones at ci.moscow.id.us<mailto:kjones at ci.moscow.id.us>, by fax at 208-883-7018, phone at 208-883-7001 or by mail to PO Box 9203, Moscow, ID 83843, Attn: Keli Jones.
