[Vision2020] most creative use of a shim ever

I never went so far as to put a wooden shim in the return envelope, but
for a while I routinely wrote "NO THANKS :)" on their offer materials
(so they wouldn't take my response as a positive reply to their offer)
and sent it back to them. I figured that since they went out of their
way to send me their offer, I should send a polite response back to let
them know that I'm not interested.
This was a couple of years ago. Just so that you know, they often put
little alphanumeric codes on their materials and sometimes return
envelopes that are unique for each person so that they know who sent it
when this happens. Since it was a response to their heartfelt offer, I
decided not to obscure who I was by redacting that information.
I've also heard of people going so far as to tape the return envelope to
a heavy box (containing something cheap like garbage or bricks) and
sending it to them. Allegedly that works, but I haven't tried it myself.
