Shirley,
Thanks for the disclosure! It is nice to see who is funded by whom. It is unfortunate that AARP will not release their findings. I am sure there is some political reason behind it.
Have you heard about the political action group that is trying to change the law so that at least 50% of an elected officials funding must come from individuals living in their district? What do you think about that?
I know Moscow is constantly being handed candidates that are heavily funded by outside interest groups, including a few of your opponents.
Thanks for your information,
Donovan Arnold

Visionaries:

It is
disappointing that AARP devoted time and effort into collecting information
about campaign contributions for elected officials, and refused to release
specific details.  Some
representatives of AARP have argued that it was not appropriate to supply
information concerning the source of donations for given elected officials
because AARP is non-partisan.  I
could understand that explanation, if a particular party were targeted.  But the information gathered concerned
campaign financing for elected officials in general, not those from a specific
party.
The
discussion raised my curiosity about my own campaign contributions for the 2010
election.  My fund-raising efforts
were sluggish for a number of reasons, but the proportion of sources is of
interest.
I raised a
total of $9188.81 from 125 individual contributors.  94 of those contributions were $50 or
less and provided $3505.
My campaign
collected $5700 from fifteen political action groups.  The largest donations were $1000 each
from the Political Action Committee for Education, and $1000 from CWA-COPE,
which is supported by AFL-CIO.
