City of Moscow Planning and Zoning Commission to Consider Amendments to the Large Retail Establishment Ordinance and Design Manual

June 6, 2011 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow Planning and Zoning Commission will be reviewing the City's current Large Retail Establishment (LRE) Ordinance and Design Manual which applies to retail establishments that are larger than 40,000 square feet in size at their upcoming meeting on June 8th, 2011, at 7:30 PM in City Council Chambers located on the second floor of City Hall at 206 E. Third Street.

Currently, retail establishments that are larger than 40,000 square feet are required to obtain a conditional use permit and follow the Design Manual, while those over 65,000 square feet are also required to conduct additional economic impact and other related studies as part of the Conditional Use Permit application. The Moscow City Council has recently requested that the Planning and Zoning Commission prepare an ordinance to remove the conditional use permit and economic impact study requirements for Large Retail Establishments within Moscow.
