USDA to honor N Idaho school for health, nutrition

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The United States Department of Agriculture has
recognized an elementary school in northern Idaho for improving the health
and nutrition of its students.

The state Department of Education says A.B. McDonald Elementary School in
Moscow has been awarded the USDA's HealthierUS School Challenge Silver
Award. The school is among dozens that were recognized nationwide for
health, nutrition and fitness excellence.

Officials from the HealthierUS School Challenge will visit the Idaho
school this fall to present the award.

The project is part of first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!"
initiative to end childhood obesity within a generation.

Two years ago, Gooding Elementary School in south-central Idaho became the
first school in the country to receive the HealthierUS School Challenge
Gold Award of Distinction.
