Given the National Climatic Data Center color coded temperature map
for the US average monthly June 2011 temperatures, the Palouse saw the
coldest amomalous temperatures of anywhere in the contiguous US,
indicating "record coldest." Nonetheless, according to the NCDC, "The
average U.S. temperature in June was 70.7 degrees F, which is 1.4
degrees F above the long-term (1901-2000) average." Texas saw large
areas of record warmest June 2011 average monthly temperatures, also
obvious on the color coded NCDC US map.
