[Vision2020] vinyl siding

I'm thinking of putting vinyl siding on my house and am interested in hearing from others who've installed it with a contractor or by yourself.

I'm particularly interested in hearing about bad experiences with vinyl siding and about recommended local vendors.

If you're feeling very helpful, have installed it yourself and want to give me some pointers (or lend an initial hand. I'm planning on installing it myself) I'd be forever grateful.
