Kitten leads officials on chase, gets adopted by deputy

SARASOTA - Deputy Shawn Keeffe from Sarasota County Sheriff's Office was
driving with his window down when he heard the cries of a small kitten on
Friday.

He pulled over to investigate and found a one-pound kitten, alone and
hiding under a car.

After checking with a neighbor, no one knew where the solo kitten came from.

When Keeffe went back for the kitten it took off, which began a 15-minute
chase that lead to two squad cars and four deputies pursuing the kitten.

The kitten was later surrounded and surrendered to Keeffe, who took the
kitten to Cat Depot, a non-profit adoption center in Sarasota.

The kitten was checked out by a local veterinarian and deemed healthy for
adoption.

The kitten was named Deputy by the cat caregivers at Cat Depot and was
adopted on Christmas Eve by none other than Deputy Keeffe.
