I have absolutely no problem with members of congress tending to their
constituents (in fact, I encourage it).  My problem has to do with (as I
mentioned in my initial posting on this thread) . . .

In the absence of an approved federal budget by March 4th, the federal
government will shut down.

The Congress is currently scheduled to reconvene on February 28th, four
days (ninety-six hours) before an unavoidable government shutdown (barring
an approved budget).  The budget approved by the House still has to be
passed by the Senate, something that is not likely to happen.

In the meantime, there are families who rely (to some healthy degree) on
social security and/or Medicare.

And here's a thought:  Who's going to tell the spouse (with children) of a
military  service member (who is serving overseas) that (s)he will just
have to wait a while for payday?

Congress can wait until after March 4th to break bread with their
constituents, ok?
